DECLARATION OF INTEREST

Addressed to faculty boards and departments at Umeå University regarding collaboration with UCGS and the Gender Research School on the announcement of employment as a doctoral student for the autumn of 2026.

The Gender Research School is located at Umeå University. Currently, about twenty doctoral students are working with research projects in a variety of disciplines, in collaboration with different departments from all four faculties. For more information about the activities in the Gender Research School, see https://www.umu.se/en/umea-centre-for-gender-studies/doctoral-studies/.

We are now starting the work to investigate the interest for future collaborations.

The intention is to, in collaboration with faculties and departments at Umeå University, announce a number of doctoral positions that will start 1/9 2026. The positions require co-financing with the department, whereby UCGS pays 50% of the doctoral student's salary costs and the department or faculty 50%.

A description of how the department/faculty views and wants to develop the collaboration with the Gender Research School/UCGS is of great importance in the declaration of interest. Arguments about how a doctoral position with a gender focus can contribute to strengthening the research environment at the department is also important. As well as what conditions already exist for the doctoral student to achieve this and what conditions the department/faculty may need support from the Gender Research School/UCGS to develop and strengthen.

The declaration of interest will be discussed at UCGS coordination and decision meeting on October 14, 2025. Questions about the declaration of interest or about the Gender Research School are answered by the Education coordinator, Veronika Niemi Lodwika, preferably by e-mail: veronika.lodwika@umu.se.

We ask for your declaration of interest no later than Monday 1 September 2025. (Maximum one declaration of interest per third-cycle subject area.)
